The new 3.0 or 3.0TW is the first hand held wing we offer with our latest 8D front tube. The 8D front tube is part of a frame system which allows us to use the same parts with more than one wing. The 3.0 TW is intended to be upgraded to a larger 5 sqM wing without having to buy all of a new frame. *Upgrade with a new sail, two battens, and two front tube extensions.
We like the new frame geometry. The 3.0 TW is the easiest rig to sail with Y tubes. Most folks can sail the latest Kitewing 3.0TW with one hand on the Y tube. We recommend one hand on the Y tube and one hand on the boom.
The ability to swap booms from Y tubes with curved boom to single straight boom without de rigging the wing is an advantage. Save a pound to use the rig in light air. Sailing without Y tubes is a technique best mastered. We twist the rig, or spin the rig. Single boom sailing is very quick. When the wind starts to bluster and puff hard, Y tubes make a re assuring difference.
